Now that the clues have been done, we need only add the other textual parts of the puzzle. These are defined in "layouts" provided with Sympathy (you can also create your own if necessary); parts of the layout that will need to change for each puzzle are called "fields" and these are entered using the Field Properties dialog. To open this, use the Field Properties... command on the File menu. You should see the following dialog appear:
The names of the fields you can change are shown in the list labeled Fields on the left hand side. In this case the Title of the puzzle, its Author (i.e. the compiler or setter) and Copyright information. The set of fields can vary, as the designer of the layout can change the number and names of fields.
To change the Title, first ensure it is selected in the list labeled Fields on the left hand side, then click into the Field value box on the right hand side and change Title to Flower Girls (the title we originally thought of). When you have done this the dialog should appear as below:
Now we can use the same method to change the author. Select Author in the list labeled Fields on the left hand side, then click into the Field value box on the right hand side. Change Author to your own name or pseudonym as shown in the example below:
Note that you can also add information about your crossword using the Description: box as shown above. This isn't part of the printed crossword, but can be used for any private comments you may have. It is particularly important to enter something meaningful for any templates you may create, as the description text appears in the Description area of the New Crossword Wizard Grid Pane as seen in Step 2.
Click on the Close button to dismiss the dialog. You are now ready to print the crossword, which is the final step in this module of the tutorial.
