At the end of the previous step, the fourth cell in the top row should have been selected. The Sympathy window should appear as shown below:
The next task is to turn the cell into a block. The Cell|Block command on the menu does this, but it is needed so often that the return key (or the Enter key to the right of the numeric keypad) does the same thing. Press the return (or Enter) key to create the block. The cell (and its symmetrical counterpart) should become black and the grid will be renumbered accordingly. The grid should appear as shown below:
Now use the cell selection technique and the return (or Enter) key to create all the remaining blocks. Because the 90 degree symmetry option is in effect, you should only need to create four more blocks - the rest will be added by Sympathy. When you have done this, the grid should appear as shown at the start of the next step.
